BRAZILIAN WHOLE VEHICLE TYPE APPROVAL
Brazilian vehicle type approval is regulated by two government departments, namely IBAMA and DENATRAN. Among them, IBAMA is responsible for the supervision of vehicle environmental performance, and DENATRAN is responsible for the supervision of vehicle safety performance. Only when a model obtains the LCVM issued by IBAMA and the safety certificate issued by DENATRAN, it can be regarded as passing the certification review, and the import license LI issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Trade can be obtained.
The IBAMA certification includes a conformity assessment of vehicle emissions and noise, and is the main environmental control measure for motor vehicles in Brazil. DENATRAN or CAT certification requires vehicles to complete all safety experiments required by the Transportation Commission's CONTRAN regulations.
