AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATION BRIEF ANALYSIS

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATION BRIEF ANALYSIS

RELEASE DATE:2023-09-04 15:22

Brief: All electrical products entering the Australian and New Zealand market need to be marked with the RCM mark, and some products also need to meet the corresponding minimum energy performance standards and labelling requirements. In order to coordinate the ANZ electrical regulators, Australia and New Zealand have jointly formed the ANZ Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) and jointly developed the E3 Energy Efficiency Program.

The Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS), the Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) and the Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) are authorised by the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) to enforce the basic safety, telecommunications, radio, electromagnetic energy and EMC framework requirements respectively. The compliance mark RCM can only be added to the product after all the requirements of the above regulatory framework have been met.

The Australian Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Regulator (GEMS) and the New Zealand Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA), both mandated by the E3 scheme, are responsible for regulating the minimum energy consumption and labelling requirements for ANZ electrical products.
