The United States Department of Transportation, abbreviated DOT, is headquartered in Washington. As the functional department of the US government, the US Department of Transportation develops and improves transportation and transportation-related regulations to meet environmental and national defense needs. 北美ameca

The North American Parts Compliance Program (ECP) promoted by AMECA (The Automotive Manufacturers Equipment Compliance Agency, Inc.) is a centralized, voluntary, one-stop process. It is a procedure for informing the government, industry and the general public that motor vehicle safety components have been tested in AMECA authorized laboratories and that they meet relevant standards. Products with an AMECA certificate will be more easily procured by North American buyers and users. AMECA provides product testing related services by authorizing third-party laboratories. Only test reports issued by AEMCA authorized laboratories will be approved by AMECA.

Japanese automotive homologation system is ranked among the world's three major automotive homologation systems together with European and the United States. The core motor vehicle regulations are the Road Vehicle Law, the Motor Vehicle Type Designation Rules, the Security Standards for Road Transport Vehicles, and the Air Pollution Prevention Law.

Before entering the Japanese market, the whole vehicle and auto parts need to be type approved and supervised by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. Japan's whole vehicle test includes safety, emissions, fuel consumption, and noise test. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Communications is responsible for testing and issuance of reports.

JWL (JANPAN LIGHT ALLOY WHEEL) certification is mainly based on the technical standard of light alloy wheels for passenger cars, applicable for passenger cars (except for passenger cars with 11 or more seats, or two-wheelers) with their light alloy wheels. Products that meet the Security Standards for Road Transport Vehicles after testing can be labelled by the JWL mark.

The JWL-T certification is based on the technical standards for light alloy wheels for trucks and large vehicles (JWL-T standards for JAPAN LIGHT ALLOY WHEEL TRUCK & BUS) and is applicable for light alloy wheels for trucks and large vehicles. Products that meet the Security Standards for Road Transport Vehicles after testing can be labelled by the JWL-T mark.

The VIA certification for wheel is the responsibility of the Japan Vehicle Inspection Association (VIA) to determine whether the product meets the technical standards of JWL or JWL-T as defined by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan or not. Products that have been tested and found to meet the relevant standards will be registered and marked with VIA.

A person who intends to manufacture, assemble or import a motor vehicle (including the incomplete motor vehicle and the motor vehicle manufactured by phase) shall self-authenticate that the model of the relevant motor vehicle meets the safety standards (Korea Motor Vehicle Safety Standard - KMVSS) for motor vehicles (in cases of an incomplete motor vehicle or a motor vehicle manufactured by phase, referring to the safety standards for motor vehicles to be applied as at the time when a manufacture, etc. concerned is finished), as determined by Ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

For certain automotive parts entering the aftermarket, KC (Korea Certification) scheme is applied which was regulated by the Ministry of Industry. From 2018, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) has taken over the regulating and supervising responsibilities of KC certification for automotive components.

ATIC Indonesia Vehicle Type Approval

Motor vehicle parts that enter the Indonesian aftermarket must comply with the Indonesian SNI standard and pass relevant certification. The Indonesian SNI (Standard Nasional Indonesia) standard is formulated by the National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (Badan Standardisasi Nasional - BSN). The auto parts must be tested in the Indonesian domestic laboratory authorized by the Indonesian National Accreditation Committee (Komite Akreditasi Nasional - KAN), and the authorized auditors conduct the factory audit and other certification processes, and finally obtain SNI certificate. At present, Indonesian  mandatory certification for automotive parts includes: Tires, Wheels, Glass, Batteries and Helmets.

Vehicle and Component ARAI

CMVR is the abbreviation of Central Motor Vehicles Rules. Its standard committee is called CMVR-TSC (CMVR-Technical Standing Committee) and belongs to the Indian Ship, Road Traffic and Highway Administration. Since 1991, the CMVR regulations stipulate that motor vehicles and their systems and components must be approved according to the CMVR regulations before entering the Indian market. The tests includes Safety, Emissions and the type approval process includes Factory Audit, Type Testing and Conformity of Production (CoP).

Argentina Component Type Approval

Argentine Ministry of Industry’s Regulation No. 91 of 2001 and Regulation No. 66 of 2008 established the mandatory certification system (Certificate of Homologation of Auto Safety Part - Certificado de Homologación de Autoparte de Seguridad - C.H.A.S.) for Argentine automotive aftermarket parts and safety units, which is applicable for both imported or local produced products.
