Brief: As child safety continues to be valued, child restraint systems for child occupants of different heights and ages have emerged. Child restraints systems for motor vehicles must meet UNECE Regulation No.44 or No. 129 and obtain an E-mark certificate before they can enter the EU market.

SUITABLE REGULATIONS
UNECE R44- Uniform provisions concerning the approval of restraining devices for child occupants of power-driven vehicles ("Child Restraint Systems")(CRS)
This Regulation applies to child restraint systems which are suitable for installation in power-driven vehicles having three or more wheels, and which are not intended for use with folding (tip-up) or with side-facing seats.
UNECE R129- Uniform provisions concerning the approval of Enhanced Child Restraint Systems used on board of motor vehicles(ECRS)
This Regulation applies (in Phases 1, 2 and 3) to the following child restraint System for child occupants of power driven vehicles:
(a) Integral Universal ISOFIX Enhanced Child Restraint Systems (i-Size);
(b) Integral Specific vehicle ISOFIX Enhanced Child Restraint Systems;
(c) Non-integral Universal Enhanced Child Restraint Systems (i-Size booster seat);
(d) Non-integral Specific vehicle Enhanced Child Restraint Systems(Specific vehicle booster seat);
(e) Integral Universal Belted Enhanced Child Restraint Systems;
(f) Integral Specific vehicle Belted Enhanced Child Restraint Systems;
(g) Non-integral Universal Enhanced Child Restraint Systems without a backrest (Universal booster cushion);
(h) Non-integral Specific vehicle Enhanced Child Restraint Systems without a backrest (Specific vehicle booster cushion).
