BRIEF ANALYSIS OF IRISH NATIONAL SAMLL SERIES TYPE APPROVAL

RELEASE DATE:2021-08-11 17:15
BriefThe Irish National Small Series Type Approval is called NSSTA. According to Irish vehicle approval regulations, a limited number of locally produced or imported vehicles must obtain a type approval certificate.

NSSTA's regulatory agency is NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland). NSAI is the official standards agency in Ireland. It is responsible for the formulation, publication and sales of Irish standards, providing certifications in many fields from management systems to products, and is responsible for the legal system Metrology and national metrology laboratory work.

REFERENCE TO REGULATORY ACT
Compared with the EU small series type approval, the Irish NSSTA has a wider range of vehicle categories, besides some provisions in its applicable regulations are not compulsory, which reduces the difficulty of type-approval.

Irish national small-series type approval refers to the Regulation (EU) 2018/858, adopts UNECE automotive technical regulations and EU/EC related directives, puts forward technical requirements for category M/N/O vehicles and special purpose vehicles. There are 72 technical items for category M vehicles, 68 for category N vehicles, and 28 for category O vehicles. The technical requirements for M1 vehicles are shown in Table 2.
