BRIEF ANALYSIS OF SINGAPORE VEHICLE CERTIFICATION

BRIEF ANALYSIS OF SINGAPORE VEHICLE CERTIFICATION

RELEASE DATE:2020-09-24 10:49
Brief: The management agency of automotive product market access in Singapore is the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA). The LTA has spearheaded the development of land transport in Singapore and has planned, designed, built and maintained Singapore's land transport infrastructure and systems. To ensure that vehicles meet technical requirements and internationally recognized standards for safety and emissions, the LTA requires each new make and model of vehicle to undergo type approval and comply with the Road Traffic Act and its subsidiary regulations before it can be registered for use in Singapore. For tailpipe emissions and fuel consumption rates, a report from an appointed testing agency is required, and the National Environment Agency (NEA) currently requires all petrol- and diesel-driven vehicles to comply with Euro VI emission standards.
