Brief: Saudi Arabia, referred to as Saudi Arabia. Located in the Arabian Peninsula. It borders the Persian Gulf to the east and the Red Sea to the west, bordering countries such as Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, and Qatar. THE LARGEST EXPORT MARKET FOR CHINESE CAR MANUFACTURES
Saudi Arabia is the largest automobile consumer market in the Gulf region. Due to the imperfect public transportation system, the main means of transportation in and near the intercity is cars. According to incomplete statistics, the current car ownership in Saudi Arabia is about 20 million, and the population in Saudi Arabia is about 34 million. Its per capita car ownership ranks among the top in the world. In 2020, China's auto exports totaled 1 million, of which Saudi Arabia has close to 100,000, accounting for 10%, ranking first among China's auto exporting countries.

OVERVIEW OF SAUDI ARABIA VEHICLE CERTIFICATION
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is the main political and economic organization in the Gulf region, referred to the GCC. It was established in May 1981 and is headquartered in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The member states include the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
The Gulf Standards Organization (GSO) is a subsidiary of GCC, as well as the competent authority and regulatory agency for GCC certification. Responsible for the certification and supervision of motorcycles, vehicles and tires entering the Gulf countries. The GSO stipulated at the Kuwait Ministerial Conference on October 12, 2004, that since January 1, 2005, GSO shall inspect motor vehicles and tire products in accordance with relevant Gulf standards and issue GCC certification certificates. The approved GCC certificate will be valid in all GCC member states.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FROM SASO
The Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization SASO stipulates that in addition to submitting the GCC certificate of the product before entering the Saudi market, the vehicle needs to meet additional Saudi requirements.

The Saudi Standards and Metrology Group SASO also issued the requirements for SASO eCall. From 2023 Model Year, that is, from 2022, all new light vehicles exported to Saudi Arabia (with a maximum total mass of not more than 3500kg) should be equipped with eCall system; from 2025 Model Year, Starting from 2024, all light vehicles exported to Saudi Arabia should be equipped with an eCall system and meet the requirements of the regulations SASO 2944: 2020.
