Vehicle Type Approval
Turkey is a party to the UN WP29 1958 Agreement with the mark E37 and can issue E-Mark certificates. At the same time, Turkey applies the EU harmonization regulations, recognizing the validity of the e/E-Mark certificate issued by EU member states.
Turkish automotive product type approval body is the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology. The General Directorate of Industry (SGM) under the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey is the type approval authority. For the import of vehicles with e/E-Mark certificates, the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the Ministry of Industry and Technology is directly responsible for the implementation.

To prepare and implement the necessary technical regulations for the production of vehicles in accordance with the road structure and traffic safety, to certify or ensure the certification of the compliance of vehicles with technical regulations
Türk Standardları Enstitüsü (Turkish Standards Institute, TSE): affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Technology
Technical service providers: testing (ISO 17025), inspection (ISO 17020)
Authorized to perform type approval: for the import of imported vehicles with e/E-Mark certificates. Type approval for single vehicles and modified vehicles

- EU type approval certificate and its copy signed by the responsible person authorized by the manufacturer
- Exhaust emission level declaration document
- Imported tractors must be equipped with flashing, yellow, rotating warning lights approved by ECE R 65 technical regulations and marked with an “E”

Import process
Importer application: Apply through TAREKS, return application number
Document submission: Submit E-Mark certificate, e-mark certificate, other required documents through TAREKS. tAREKS returns the product reference number (23 digits)
Inspection and testing: Inspection results can be checked through TAREKS
Customs declaration: TAREKS reference number is declared to customs, customs assessment
