INMETRO ORDINANCE NO. 301
Brief: On July 21, 2011, the Brazilian National Metrology and Quality Technology Agency (INMETRO) issued Decree No. 301 (INMETRO Regulation no. 301), which stipulates that 18 months after its promulgation (ie January 21, 2013), entering the Brazilian market. Class 7 motor vehicle parts and components are subject to relevant certification and are registered with INMETRO; after 24 months of its promulgation (ie July 21, 2013), the manufacturer and importer sells the Class 7 motor vehicle in the Brazilian market. All parts must pass the relevant certification and be registered with INMETRO, and gradually require all 7 types of motor vehicle parts sold in the market to pass the relevant certification and register with INMETRO.
As one of the BRIC countries, Brazil is a large potential market for Chinese auto parts manufacturers. However, compared with other regional or national certifications, Brazil's INMETRO certification has the characteristics of short transition period, complicated certification process and high testing technical requirements. Inflict higher market access costs for domestic companies.
